Insulin Resistance

Also called IR · metabolic syndrome

Insulin resistance is the state in which cells fail to respond normally to insulin, leading to elevated blood glucose and compensatory hyperinsulinemia. It is the underlying pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes and a major driver of metabolic syndrome. GLP-1 receptor agonists are extensively studied in the context of insulin resistance reversal.
