PEGylation

Also called PEG · polyethylene glycol modification

PEGylation is the covalent attachment of polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains to a peptide or protein. The large, water-binding PEG coat increases hydrodynamic radius (slowing renal clearance), reduces immunogenicity by shielding epitopes, and extends circulation half-life. It is used in several approved biologics though less commonly in short research peptides.
