Double-Blind

Also called double-blinded · masked

In a double-blind trial, neither the participants nor the investigators assessing outcomes know which group received the active treatment. This design prevents performance bias (participants behaving differently if they know their treatment) and detection bias (investigators scoring outcomes differently). Most Phase 3 trials are double-blind, placebo-controlled.
