An International Nonproprietary Name (INN) is the unique, globally recognized name assigned to a pharmaceutical active substance by the World Health Organization. It is the generic name used across scientific literature, regulatory submissions, and dispensing — distinct from proprietary brand names. Semaglutide, tirzepatide, and bremelanotide are all INNs.
