Also called pI · isoelectric pH
The isoelectric point (pI) is the pH at which a peptide has equal positive and negative charges — a net charge of zero. At its pI a peptide has minimal solubility in water and is most prone to aggregation. It is calculated from the sequence and influences formulation, solubility, and HPLC separation behaviour.
