Ketogenesis

Also called ketone body synthesis · ketosis

Ketogenesis is the hepatic process of converting fatty acids into ketone bodies (acetoacetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate) when carbohydrate availability is low. GLP-1 agonists and metabolic peptides studied for weight loss indirectly affect ketogenic flux by altering insulin levels, lipolysis rates, and hepatic fat oxidation.
