SPPS

Also called solid-phase peptide synthesis · solid phase synthesis

SPPS (solid-phase peptide synthesis) is the standard technique for manufacturing peptides in research and pharmaceutical production. Amino acids are added one at a time to a growing chain anchored to a resin bead, with protecting groups removed after each coupling step. The method enables the synthesis of any defined sequence but introduces deletion and truncation impurities that must be removed by HPLC purification. Virtually all research peptides — including BPC-157, semaglutide, and BPC-157 — are produced by SPPS.
