A systematic review applies pre-specified inclusion criteria to identify and synthesize all available studies on a defined research question. A meta-analysis quantitatively pools results from multiple studies to produce an aggregate effect estimate. Together they represent the highest level of evidence above individual RCTs in the evidence hierarchy.
