Also called WFI · sterile water
Water for Injection (WFI) is pharmaceutical-grade sterile water without benzyl alcohol or other preservatives. Unlike bacteriostatic water, WFI does not inhibit microbial growth after opening, making it appropriate only for single-use reconstitutions. It is used when the researcher wants to avoid any preservative exposure.
