cAMP

Also called cyclic AMP · cyclic adenosine monophosphate · PKA pathway

cAMP (cyclic adenosine monophosphate) is a second messenger generated when Gs-coupled GPCRs activate adenylyl cyclase. It activates protein kinase A (PKA), which phosphorylates downstream effectors. The GHRH receptor signals through cAMP/PKA to stimulate GH release from pituitary somatotrophs.
