GHS-R1a

Also called ghrelin receptor · growth hormone secretagogue receptor

GHS-R1a is the G protein-coupled receptor activated by ghrelin and synthetic GHRPs (ipamorelin, hexarelin, MK-677). It is distinct from the GHRH receptor; GHS-R1a signals through Gq/IP₃/Ca²⁺, whereas GHRH-R signals through Gs/cAMP/PKA. Co-activating both pathways produces synergistic GH release.
