NF-κB

Also called nuclear factor kappa B · NF-kB

NF-κB (nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells) is a transcription factor that regulates genes encoding cytokines, chemokines, and pro-inflammatory mediators. Its activation is central to acute and chronic inflammation. Several peptides — including thymosin β4 (via its Ac-SDKP fragment) — are studied for their ability to modulate NF-κB activity.
